Centenary Celebration of the Birth of Our Founder: Dr. G. Venkataswamy
October 1, 2018, marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dr. G. Venkataswamy, the founder of Aravind Eye Care System. More than 1000 people gathered in Madurai to celebrate Dr. V’s centenary and to share their recollections of his influence on their personal lives, as well as his impact on the millions who might otherwise be needlessly blind.
To recognize the importance of Dr. V’s contributions, Google dedicated a Google Doodle to him which ran on home pages in India, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
